Fine, Mayfield Earn All-Academic Honors

DALLAS – North Texas offensive lineman Riley Mayfield and quarterback Mason Fine were named to the InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Football All-Academic team Thursday, the league office announced. The Mean Green are the only team to have more than one member recognized, and the 11 honorees are selected for excellence on the field and in the classroom.
Mayfield dons a 3.823 GPA while earning his master's in business administration, landing him a spot on the all-academic team for the second consecutive season. The Cedar Park, Texas, native has started every game for the Mean Green at right tackle.
Also representing the Mean Green is Fine, who earned a 3.333 GPA in entrepreneurship. The junior leads the league in nearly every passing category and was named to the preseason watch lists of several national awards. He paced North Texas to a 9-3 regular season and third straight bowl appearance while being named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week twice this season.
