Track & Field Heads To NCAA West Preliminary Round

DENTON - The North Texas track and field teams will be sending eight student-athletes to compete at the 2018 NCAA Division I West Prelims starting Thursday, May 24 at Sacramento State.
On Thursday, sophomore Kristyn Archuleta will compete in
On Friday, sophomore Bailey Ashmore enters with a pole vault mark of 4.05 meters and will compete at 4:30 p.m. Junior James Cole will run in the 200-meters at 7:30 p.m. and hopes to qualify for the quarterfinal on Saturday at 7:35 p.m.
On the final day, junior Javier Lopez-Ibarra comes in ranked 26th in
Archuleta, Eckels, Lopez-Ibarra and Cole will be competing at the NCAA West Prelims for the second-straight season. Eckels finished 16th in
The last North Texas student-athlete to qualify for NCAA finals was former standout Chastity Stewart who competed in the 100 and 400-meter hurdles back in 2016.
The 12 qualifiers out of each region will move on to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships held June 6-9 in Eugene, Oregon.

6 p.m. - 4x100-meter relay (Cole, Campbell, Tribble, Drayden)
7:35 p.m. - *men's 200-meter dash quarterfinal (Cole)
*Cole has to qualify on Friday to run on Saturday
