Lussy, Iseli honored by C-USA

IRVING - Florian Lussy and Rea Iseli of North Texas each claimed Conference USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for their performances at the 30thannual Chile Pepper Festival hosted by Arkansas Saturday at Agri Park.

This marks the first time in program history a pair of Mean Green runners have taken home the C-USA honor, Male and Female, in the same week.

Lussy, now a winner in back-to-back weeks, clocked in at 25:07.2 in the 8k to lead UNT to a fourth place team finish out of nearly 50 teams. The junior from Tauffelen, Switzerland, was the first Mean Green to cross the finish line in the 23rdspot as UNT was beaten by just one other Division I team in No. 14 Arkansas.

Iseli, a senior, had a solid outing in the 5k for a ninth place finish with a time of 17:31.8 to lead the UNT women. The Oberdorf, Switzerland, native ran well in the race hosted by the No. 9 Razorbacks and finished ahead of 415 other collegiate competitors as the Mean Green placed ninth out of 51 teams.

The Mean Green travel to the Arturo Barrios Invite hosted by Texas A&M October 13.
