Track & Field Schedule Set

DENTON – The 2019 North Texas track and field season schedule has been finalized by head coach Carl Sheffield as the Mean Green will host their first meet since 2014 by debuting the new track/soccer complex at the North Texas Classic April 6.
"We are continually trying to grow our young team to Conference USA level. This year's schedule is a step in that direction," Sheffield said.
The indoor season will begin Jan. 12 at the Kansas State Invite followed by the Cherry and Silver in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jan. 18-19, and the Texas Tech Invitational Jan. 25-26.
North Texas heads to the J.D. Martin Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma, Feb. 2 before the Conference USA Indoor Championships are held Feb. 16-17 in Birmingham, Alabama. The NCAA Indoor Championships will also take place in Birmingham March 8-9.
UNT's outdoor season opens April 13 at the K.T. Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kansas. The Mean Green then travel to the Mt. SAC Relays and Beach Invitational in Torrance and Long Beach, California, respectively, April 19-20. The team heads to the Texas A&M Invite April 27 before the Conference USA Championships May 9-12 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
"New Mexico and Texas Tech will feature big time competition indoors, while the outdoor schedule will give us some consistency from last year," Sheffield said.
The NCAA Preliminary Rounds take place May 23-25 in Sacramento, California, in preparation for the NCAA Championship Finals in Austin June 5-8.
In addition, the USA U20 National Championships take place June 21-13, while the USATF Outdoor Championships occur July 25-28.
