10/23/2019 5:00:00 PM | Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball
DENTON —The Mean Green men and women's basketball season tickets will be available for pickup on Nov. 3 at the Super Pit following the women's exhibition game versus Texas Women's University at 3 p.m.
Admission to the exhibition game is free.
Immediately following the game, North Texas fans can head into the gymnastics room located by the North Tunnel where they can pickup their tickets, meet the entire men and women's teams while enjoying complimentary snacks and soft drinks.
The UNT women's basketball team is entering its fifth season under the leadership of head coach Jalie Mitchell, a 2002 North Texas graduate and the program's all-time leading scorer. Mitchell has taken the Mean Green to new heights since her arrival.
In just her second game as the North Texas head coach in 2015, Mitchell led the Mean Green to the program's first ever win over a ranked opponent when they beat No. 17 Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Since then she's led UNT to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in 17 years and guided the Mean Green to a conference tournament semifinal for the first time since she played for North Texas.
The Mean Green women will host 17 games this season including the Nov. 3 exhibition game against TWU. They return key contributors such as Anisha George who was an all-conference defender last year for UNT.
For the men, head coach Grant McCasland will start his third season at the helm of the program on Nov. 5 when they host Oklahoma Christian in the team's season opener.
In McCasland's first two seasons in Denton, North Texas has posted back-to-back 20-win seasons, won its first ever national postseason title and last year boasted the best start to a season in program history (16-1) and was the first team in the nation to 20 wins.
In 2019-20, the Mean Green return key contributors such as last season's leading scorer Umoja Gibson but also welcome new and experienced faces who are eager to win a championship.
North Texas' 2019-20 non-conference schedule includes two ranked opponents and they'll welcome Oklahoma to the Super Pit on Dec. 5.
