Schmidt, Bouchard and Lussy Garner All-Academic Honors

DALLAS – Three North Texas cross country student-athletes were named to the 2019 Conference USA Men's and Women's All-Academic teams as Aubrey Schmidt, Caleb Bouchard and Florian Lussy each garnered honors, announced by the conference office Thursday.

The Mean Green achieved the highest number of student-athletes named to the team for the second consecutive year, after a school-record four honorees in 2018.

"We as a program place a huge emphasis on the student part of student-athlete," head cross country coach Kevin Williams said. "It's awesome that these three are getting recognized, they're all very serious about their studies, they put in a lot of extra work and are all passionate about what they are studying."

Schmidt, a sophomore from College Station, currently holds a 3.923 GPA as a Kinesiology major. She was also named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in the spring of 2019.

Bouchard, a sophomore from Trophy Club, holds a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Biomedical Engineering, and Lussy a senior from Oberdorf, Switzerland, holds a 3.806 GPA as a Recreation, Event and Sport Management major. Both were named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in the Spring.

This is the second honor of its kind for Lussy, while Bouchard and Schmidt both received the honor for the first time.

North Texas competes in the 2019 C-USA Cross Country Championships Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
