Lussy Concludes Season at NCAA Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The 2019 Cross Country season officially came to an end Saturday as senior Florian Lussy placed 153rd overall at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

"Florian had a solid race to finish out the season," head coach Kevin Williams said. "We as a program are very proud of him and the season that he had."

The Oberdorf, Switzerland native competed against a field of 250-plus of the nation's top runners and clocked a 32:21.8 in the 10K race.

Edwin Kurgat of Iowa State took the individual title with time of 30:32.7 and BYU claimed the team title with 109 points.

Amidst the praise and excitement from his head coach, Lussy knew that he had more in the tank.

"I'm quite disappointed with my race," Lussy said. "I had a decent start but after the first kilometer I ran too cautious and ended up in the middle of the pack."

While Cross Country season came to an end, Lussy will now join the rest of the North Texas Track and Field program as they prepare for outdoor season beginning January 17 at Texas A&M.

"I'm lucky to have indoor and outdoor track left to show what I am capable of." Lussy said.
