ABILENE – North Texas track and field opens the 2019 outdoor season Friday at the Wes Kittley Invitational hosted by Abilene Christian.
Teams competing against the Mean Green include ACU, Texas Tech, SMU and Sam Houston State. Friday's limited events will consist of the hammer throw and shot put at 4 p.m. along with the 5,000-meter run at 8 p.m. The bulk of events will take place Saturday beginning with the javelin and long jump at 9:30 a.m. followed by the running events at 12:20 p.m.
"We've had a good couple of weeks training since the indoor conference championships," director of track and field Carl Sheffield said. "We want to continue to give our younger athletes opportunities to compete in events. During this first meet that will potentially help us in the outdoor season."
