Hill Sets Record, Lussy Takes Title At Relays

AUSTIN – Zion Hill broke the North Texas track and field record in javelin, and Florian Lussy earned first place in the 5,000-meter run Thursday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays held at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Hill, the Mean Green's first competitor at the meet, recorded a school record in javelin with a throw of 69.15 meters to surpass Javier Lopez-Ibarra, who set the previous mark of 66.55 last season. Hill improved upon his previous best by over three meters.
Lussy took the title in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:33.76 by outdoing the closest competitor by nearly five seconds.
Brock Hottel took second in pole vault with a mark of 5.15 meters for his best performance of the 2019 outdoor season. Tim Jones ran the 1500-meter in 4:07.91 for ninth place.
The Texas Relays continue Friday at 9 a.m.
