Shaffer Honored As C-USA Athlete Of Week

DALLAS – Jaleisa Shaffer of North Texas was named the Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday, as announced by the league office.
Shaffer had productive showings in a trio of California meets April 18-20. The sophomore took the title in shot put at the 61stannual Mt. SAC Relays with a personal best throw of 14.75 meters for the second-farthest throw in North Texas history. She also threw a season-best in discus at the Relays with a toss of 45.61 meters to capture sixth place.
The Amarillo native is the second Mean Green to earn this honor this season and the third overall.
