
Brian Waters To Be Inducted Into Chiefs' HOF

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Thirteen-year NFL veteran and four-year Mean Green letterwinner Brian Waters will be the 2019 inductee into the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame, Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt announced Saturday.
Waters will become the 49th individual and 45th player to be inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame, and the enshrinement ceremony will take place at Arrowhead Stadium during Chiefs Alumni Weekend this fall.
Waters appeared in 186 games, 170 of which were starts across 13 seasons with three different teams. He spent 2000-10 in Kansas City and was a six-time Pro Bowler and two-time Associated Press first-team All-Pro selection. Waters was the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2009 for his on-field accomplishments and dedication to community outreach.
During Waters' 10 seasons with the Chiefs, he was instrumental in the top four single-season rushing performances in franchise history. He was also key in three of the top five single-game rushing performances in the Chiefs' record books.
Waters launched the Brian Waters 54 Foundation in 2004, and, since its inception, the foundation has helped tens of thousands of children and families across the Kansas City area and in Texas. The back-to-school program provided haircuts, medical checkups and backpacks full of school supplies for students prior to the start of the school year.
Waters, a Waxahachie, Texas, native appeared in 44 games for the Mean Green from 1995-98. He spent his first three seasons at tight end before moving to defensive end prior to his senior season. Waters was a first-team All-Big West Conference selection after posting 45 tackles (32 solo) with five sacks. At tight end, Waters caught 90 passes for 1,041 yards and 10 touchdowns for his career.
After college, Waters signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. After his release from the Cowboys following training camp, Waters had a workout with the Chiefs, at chich they switched him to offensive line.
