Trio Named C-USA T&F All-Academic

DALLAS – North Texas student-athletes James Cole, Florian Lussy and Cassidy Adams were selected to the 2019 InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Track and Field All-Academic Team, the league announced Tuesday.
Cole concluded his North Texas career with a runner-up finish in the 4x100-meter relay at the 2019 C-USA Outdoor Championships May 12. This spring, he graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in biology and has made the President's List, Dean's List, C-USA Honor Roll and is a C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal honoree. Cole captured second in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:22.58 at the North Texas Classic April 6 and in the 4x100 in 40.07 at the Mt. SAC Relays April 19. The Mission native ran a season-best 21.39 in the 200 at the Long Beach Invitational April 20.
Lussy earned eighth place in the 5,000-meter run at the C-USA Outdoor Championships May 12. The junior from Oberdorf, Switzerland, took the 5k title at the prestigious Texas Relays in a time of 14:33.76 March 28, and ran the 1,500 in a personal record time of 3:52.17 at North Texas Classic for a runner-up finish April 6. Lussy has a 3.85 GPA as a recreation and sport management major, and was also a C-USA Cross Country All-Academic Team selection in 2018. He has also been named to the President's List, Dean's List and is a recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. Lussy also set a UNT record in the 5k at the C-USA Indoor Championships with a time of 14:22.39 and ran the 3k in 8:21.40 for a personal record February 16.
Adams achieved a personal record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:49.27 for sixth place at the C-USA Outdoor Championships May 11 in her final meet competing for the Mean Green. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in management as part of the Honors College, and is a 4.0 graduate student-athlete with a major in organizational behavior and human resource management. Adams was also a member of the C-USA Cross Country All-Academic Team last fall, made the President's List and earned the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. The native of Justin set the stadium record in 2,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 7:07.49 at the Baylor Invitational March 23 and did the same in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:57.99 at North Texas Classic April 6.
