Adams Makes History As Academic All-American

AUSTIN – Cassidy Adams became the first North Texas student-athlete to be named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® NCAA Division I Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday.
Adams was selected to the first team after graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in management as part of the Honors College, and is currently a 4.0 graduate student-athlete with a major in organizational behavior and human resource management. She was selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team in May.
The Conference USA Cross Country and Track and Field All-Academic Team recipient achieved a personal record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:49.27 for sixth place at the C-USA Outdoor Championships May 11 in her final meet competing for the Mean Green. Adams set the stadium record in 2,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 7:07.49 at the Baylor Invitational March 23 and did the same in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:57.99 at North Texas Classic April 6. The Justin native is a member of the President's List and earned the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
Among the 90 student-athletes selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Cross Country/Track & Field teams, 20 men and 33 women carry a 4.0 grade-point average or higher, including all 15 women on the first team. The 15 members of the men's cross country/track & field team carry an average GPA of 3.98, while the women's team carry a 4.04 GPA.
