Cross Country Releases 2019 Schedule

DENTON – Head coach Kevin Williams announced the 2019 schedule for North Texas cross country featuring the annual Ken Garland Invitational Sept. 7 and the Conference USA Championships Nov. 2 hosted by Western Kentucky.
"We are really excited for the upcoming cross country season," Williams said. "The schedule we have put together will test us against the best teams in C-USA and in the NCAA South Central Region all season. The month of October will be particularly challenging as we will race back-to-back at SEC-hosted invitationals."
The Mean Green open the season by hosting the Ken Garland Invitational Sept. 7 at Discovery Park. The following week the team heads to UTA to compete in the Gerald Richey Invitational. The Chile Pepper Festival hosted by Arkansas awaits North Texas Oct. 19 before the C-USA Championships are held in Bowling Green where the men will look to defend their 2018 title.
The NCAA South Central Regional takes place Nov. 15 at Arkansas, and the season concludes Nov. 23 at the NCAA Championships hosted by Indiana State on the LaVern Gibson Championships Cross Country Course. In 2018, Florian Lussy clocked the fastest time recorded at the championships in North Texas program history as he finished the 10k in 31:02.8 in 149th place on the Zimmer Championship Course hosted by Wisconsin.
