LAFAYETTE – North Texas women's basketball will travel to face Louisiana for a 6 p.m. tipoff Friday inside the Cajundome.
About the Mean Green
North Texas fell to 1-1 on the season with a loss at Texas Nov. 29 after picking up a season-opening win over Tarleton Nov. 25. Redshirt sophomore Quincy Noble leads the team in scoring at 14.5 points. Sophomore N'Yah Boyd averages 12.0, senior Summer Jones adds 9.0, redshirt junior Destiny Brooks contributes 8.5 and freshman Tommisha Lampkin scores 8.5. Redshirt senior Madi Townley is pulling down a team-high 6.5 boards, and Boyd dishes out 5.5 assists.
About the Ragin' Cajuns
The matchup with the Mean Green with be the first contest of the season for Louisiana after cancelations against New Orleans and Loyola University New Orleans. The Ragin' Cajuns were picked to finish fourth overall and second in the West Division in the 2020-21 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Senior Ty'Reona Doucet and junior Brandi Williams were both selected to Preseason All-Conference Teams.

DENTON (Dec. 7, 2019) ー The Mean Green held off a fourth quarter rally from Louisiana to end a two-game skid and defeat the Ragin' Cajuns 69-66 at The Super Pit on Saturday.
Louisiana (6-2) entered Saturday winners of its past five contests, but North Texas utilized an efficient shooting performance to propel themselves past a red-hot Ragin' Cajuns squad. UNT shot a season-best 49.1% from the floor while scoring a season-high 69 points.
The Mean Green had three different players finish in double figures on the afternoon. Callie Owens turned in her best offensive performance of the season, shooting 6-of-9 from the field to score a season-high 16 points.
Boyd finished with 13 points against the Ragin' Cajuns and has scored 35 points in her last two games. McDowell added 10 points and eight rebounds while matching her season bests in both assists (3) and blocks (3).
A Noble Start
Quincy Noble made the most of her North Texas debut with a team-high 17 points in an 87-71 Mean Green season opening win over Tarleton Nov. 25. The redshirt sophomore put up 12 points in the second quarter to bring North Texas back from an 18-13 first quarter deficit. Against Texas Nov. 29, Noble had a team-high 12 points, including a pair of big 3-pointers, that kept the Mean Green in contention early. On the week, Noble shot 56-percent from beyond the arc and sank all of her free throws.
Formidable Freshman
In her collegiate debut, freshman Tommisha Lampkin posted 12 points and seven rebounds in just 12 minutes of play in a season-opening win against Tarleton Nov. 25. The forward knocked down five of her six shots and both free throws. Against Texas Nov. 29, Lampkin held her own underneath with two field goals and four rebounds. In the two contests, she averaged eight points, 5.5 boards and hit 70-percent of her shots.
Deep Improvement
The Mean Green struggled from the 3-point line last season by connecting on just 27.8 percent of their attempts, ranking them 300 of the 348 teams in NCAA Division I. So far in 2020-21, the team is hitting at a 45.2-percent clip to sit 16th-best in the nation and first in Conference USA. Quincy Noble, N'Yah Boyd, Summer Jones and Maddie Cleary are each shooting at least 50-percent from deep.

UNT (1-1) kept with the Longhorns (2-0) by holding a lead late in the first and pulling within five midway through the second before Texas started to take control. Quincy Noble and Destiny Brooks each scored 12 points for UNT, and N'Yah Boyd and Summer Jones recorded 10. The Mean Green had trouble containing Preseason All- Big 12 selection Charli Collier of Texas who posted 44 points and 16 rebounds.
