Tennis Suffers First Loss

TUCSON, Arizona — The North Texas women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday at Arizona, 4-0.
When the match was called, freshman Hala Khaled Badwy was up a set and leading 5-2 in the second set and fellow freshman Kexuan Zhou was leading 5-3 in the second set.
"We are a bit disappointed we did not come out with more energy and belief in doubles," said head coach Sujay Lama. "That has been our strength so far."
The Mean Green had won its first five matches by a combined score of 28-7 and had not lost a doubles point all year. UNT is in the middle of its first road swing of the year. North Texas beat Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas, on Tuesday before traveling to Tucson.
North Texas will face Kansas State on Saturday at noon CT in Tucson for its first neutral match of the year. UNT beat K-State in 2014 on a neutral site.
"We did a better job overall in singles and especially proud of Hala and Kexuan who were able to deal with the conditions and give themselves and chance to put themselves in a position to be successful," Lama said. "We get a shot at another good team on Saturday. It's a great opportunity to put to use what we learned today."
