Mean Green T&F Honored For Academic Efforts

NEW ORLEANS – All-Academic Teams and Athletes for the 2020 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track & Field season were announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), and both North Texas men's and women's teams were represented as Bailey Ashmore, Valencia Bullock and Charlotte Kerr each received individual recognition.
"I am very excited about the USTFCCCA Academic Award recognition," director of track and field Carl Sheffield said. "It means a lot to me and our student-athletes to perform in the classroom this past semester with having their competition canceled. It showed a lot of fortitude to stay focused on our team goal of having over a 3.0 GPA. I am very proud of our academic advisor, Alexis Guess, and her staff for their accomplishments during these times."
To earn team honors, the squad must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Mean Green men posted a 3.17, and the women registered a 3.39. Overall, there were 264 different programs honored for their academic excellence.
Ashmore, Bullock and Kerr were acknowledged for their efforts by achieving at least a 3.25 GPA.
