North Texas women's basketball began conference play 4-0 for the first time in program history with a 76-52 win over UTSA Saturday inside The Super Pit.
UNT joined the Southland Conference before the 1983-84 season followed by the Big West (1996-2000), Sun Belt (2000-2013) and Conference USA (2013-present), making the four straight wins the best start in league play in 37 years.
Before kicking off her final spring slate as a member of the North Texas women's golf team in a couple of weeks, senior Lauren Cox will tee it up with some of the top amateur players in the country beginning Wednesday at the South Atlantic Women's Amateur Championship, otherwise known as "The Sally."
Cox, who's in her fifth year of eligibility after deciding to return for an extra year after the COVID-19 pandemic cut her senior season short last spring, will compete in the tournament for the third consecutive year at Oceanside Country Club, where the tournament has been played annually since 1926.
Senior wide receiver Jaelon Darden was named a Walter Camp Second Team All-America selection on Thursday, officially making him a consensus All-American. Darden is the Mean Green's first consensus All-American since "Mean" Joe Greene was a consensus first team selection in 1968.
Darden is among the nation's leaders in all of the major receiving categories. The Houston native finished with 74 receptions for 1,190 yards and a single-season program record 19 touchdowns in just nine games. His 19 receiving scores are second in the Football Bowl Subdivision, only trailing Alabama's DeVonta Smith, who has 20 through 12 games and was named the Heisman Trophy winner on Monday. Darden ranks seventh in the country in receptions per game (8.2). Darden led the nation in games with three or more receiving touchdowns, with four, and also tied for the most receiving scores in a single game in the country with four. Darden ranks third nationally in receiving yards per game (132.2) and receiving yards (1,190) and fourth in receptions (74). Darden concluded his time in Denton as the program's career record-holder in receptions (230), receiving yards (2,782) and receiving touchdowns (38).

The North Texas swimming and diving team were unable to get a win during their lone conference dual of the season. The Mean Green fell to Rice by a score of 175-118 on a day that celebrated the careers of four individual seniors.
"I was very impressed in our effort today against Rice," head coach Brittany Roth said. "I know Rice is a really strong competitor but the times that our athletes were able to achieve today are really indicative of the work that they've been putting in since the beginning of school."
