
Women's Golf Competes In Match Against Houston

HOUSTON - The UNT women's golf team played a match against Houston on Friday at the Golf Club of Houston, which will be the site of the Mean Green's first tournament of the spring on Feb. 22-23 at the ICON Invitational, hosted by Houston.
Both teams had lineups of six golfers, and the teams played 27 holes broken up into three 9-hole matches.
In the first nine holes, UNT got a win from senior Lauren Cox and a tie from junior Audrey Tan. The second match saw the Mean Green go 2-2-2 with wins from Cox and junior Katie Finley, while junior Patricia Sinolungan earned a tie along with freshman Shreya Pal, who was playing in her first collegiate competition after joining the program earlier this month.
The final match of the day was a team match with teams of two playing alternate shot. Cox and Tan beat Houston's top two golfers, while Finley and Sinolungan earned a tie.
The Mean Green, ranked 21st in the Golfstat poll, will tee off their spring schedule at the ICON Invitational in a strong field with top-ranked Baylor, Kent State, No. 3 LSU, Michigan State, Northwestern, No. 10 Oklahoma State, Purdue, SMU, No. 22 TCU, No. 20 Texas, No. 30 Texas A&M, Texas State and No. 14 Texas Tech.
