WBB Moves to 2-0 In C-USA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Quincy Noble scored a game-high 23 points as North Texas women's basketball moved to 2-0 in Conference USA play in a 79-70 win over UAB Saturday inside Bartow Arena.
"I think it's important for our team to start with energy. I'm really proud of that piece. I think we made some adjustments today," head coach Jalie Mitchell said.
North Texas put up 30 points in the opening quarter with Tommisha Lampkin giving the Mean Green the first a double-digit lead of the day at 21-9. A Rochelle Lee jumper gave UNT a 29-14 cushion with 1:29 to go before the Blazers closed with a 5-1 run.
Emma Villas-Gomis sank a layup for a 34-21 Mean Green advantage two minutes in the second quarter. N'Yah Boyd hit a pair from the line and a shot in the paint to keep UNT up, 45-33, with 3:06 remaining in the half. UAB finished strong with eight unanswered to close within 45-40.
The Mean Green return home to host UTSA Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
