The University of North Texas has restructured its athletics executive leadership team resulting in promotions and additional duties for three employees.
Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker announced the changes today.
"We have taken time the past few months to evaluate our executive leadership team structure, Baker said. "We were able to absorb and redistribute responsibilities from a previous executive staff position in a way that resulted in the elimination of a full-time position. This shift has enabled us to reward three very valuable employees while maximizing our resources. I'm excited to announce these changes."
Natasha Oakes has been named Executive Senior Associate AD for compliance, diversity, equity and inclusion. She will also serve as the department's Senior Woman Administrator. In her new role, Oakes will oversee the newly-created equity, diversity and inclusion initiative, which can be found at www.UnityMeanGreen.com. She will also continue to oversee the Mean Green compliance office, which she has done since arriving at North Texas in 2017.
Ryan Peck has been elevated from Executive Senior Associate AD for External Affairs to Deputy AD for External Affairs. Peck came to North Texas 2016. Under Peck's leadership UNT has received 12 of the 20 largest gifts in athletics history and set numerous fundraising and attendance records.
Matt Witty has been promoted to Executive Senior Associate AD for Finance and now serves as the department's Chief Financial Officer. Witty was previously Senior Associate AD for business operations, a position he held since coming to North Texas in 2017. Witty assumes control of all financial responsibilities for the department and will oversee all contracts and procurement and human resource functions.
"Natasha, Ryan and Matt have been valuable members of our leadership team and I expect they will continue to make a significant impact in their new roles and will lead their respective areas with distinction as we move forward," Baker said. "They each embrace our mission of building champions and preparing leaders and are dedicated to the total development of our student-athletes."
