LUBBOCK – Antonio Delacruz, Braden Lange and Brock Hottel each earned individual titles for North Texas track and field at the Red Raider Invitational Saturday inside the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center.Â
Â
Delacruz ran to first in the 200-meter dash in a personal best time of 21.21 seconds to rank second in program history, while Braden Lange cruised in the 3000-meter run beating his career-record time by nine seconds in 8:37.78. Hottel captured his best mark in pole vault in over two years with a mark of 5.10 meters.Â
Â
"Our men's team really stepped up today," director of track and field Carl Sheffield said. "We added a personal challenge to be better this week than we were last week, regardless of the competition."
Â
Davonye Jones turned in a 21.34 in the 200 for runner-up honors and the fifth-fastest time in UNT history.Â
Â
"We had lots of season and personal bests today. The men's sprinters had a big day," Sheffield said. "We've had really good training over the past three weeks. We thought we could run fast on this track."
Â
Cody Bullard and Michael Gonzalez also vaulted 5.10 meters to capture second and third place, respectively. Bullard's was a lifetime best, and Gonzalez's was an indoor personal record. Bailey Ashmore was runner-up with at a season-best 4.01 meters, and Sydney Salinas scored and indoor best 3.86 for fourth place. Ashmore and Salinas are now listed first and second on the all-time indoor list.Â
Â
Karlington Anunagba registered a personal best time to narrowly edge out Delacruz for second place in the 60-meter dash in 6.70 seconds.
Â
"This is a great time to get some needed rest and training to prepare for the indoor championships," Sheffield said.
