North Texas Set to Battle Missouri State on Sunday

DENTON, Texas – The North Texas women's basketball team will hit the road for the first time this season. UNT will square off with Missouri State on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT) looking to start 3-0 for the first time since 2017.
Missouri State comes into this game, 1-0 last defeating Little Rock, 76-62. The Lady Bears were selected the preseason favorite in the Missouri Valley Conference for the second season in a row. They are coming off back-to-back 16-win conference campaigns which both won the MVC outright.
They also feature a star-studded lineup like North Texas. Sixth-year Brice Calip was tabbed by the coaches and media as the MVC Preseason Player of the Year. She is also joined by the reigning MVC Defensive POY in Jasmine Franklin.
This will prove to be a good test for the Mean Green. Jazion Jackson, Tommisha Lampkin, and Quincy Noble continue to be the driving force behind the offensive outbursts. As a unit, they have all reached double figures in back-to-back games. They've had some help though; transfers Amber Dixon and Aly Gamez continue to provide a spark for the Mean Green in different ways. Gamez being the floor general to start the game and Dixon adding offensive firepower off the bench.
The game will be televised on ESPN 3 and Zac Babb will cover the air waves on KNTU 88.7 FM.

HISTORY BETWEEN SQUADS
- This will be the fifth meeting between the two programs. North Texas bested Missouri State in 2018, 83-76 (OT). UNT is 1-3 all-time against the Bears.
QUICK HITTERS FROM THE HOWARD GAME
- North Texas got to the free throw line for 33 attempts, they shot 72.7% collectively.
- UNT shot 80% from three-point range in the second quarter on five attempts and was perfect in the third with four.
- Jackson, Lampkin and Noble registered double figures for the second consecutive contest.
- Gamez, Jackson, and Noble put up 54 points on 28 attempts, making nine 3-pointers.
- North Texas shot 53.8% from behind the arc on 26 attempts.
- Noble's five made from 3-point range were more than Howard made as a team overall (4-of-25).
