The Mean Green earn 13th bowl berth in program history
DENTON, Texas – North Texas football has accepted an invitation to play in the inaugural Frisco Football Classic in Frisco, Texas, and will face Miami (Ohio) from the Mid-American Conference. The game will be played on December 23 at 2:30 pm CT at Toyota Stadium. It will be broadcast by ESPN.
"This is a great reward for our players and all they accomplished this season," head coach Seth Littrell said. "We are excited for this chance nearby in Frisco to compete in front of our fans again, especially against a talented Miami team. We look forward to getting to work."
UNT won its last five regular season games to finish 6-6 and secure bowl eligibility for the fifth time in six seasons under Littrell. It will be UNT's 13th bowl appearance all-time. The Mean Green has a 3-9 record in postseason bowl games.
"We are honored to be selected to play in the Frisco Football Classic," Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and Director of Athletics Wren Baker said. "This is a tremendous opportunity for our fans to show the country what makes the Mean Green Family special with a big turnout for a game in our backyard, and a chance for our program to continue building on its strong finish to the season."
