Throwers Earn Every Title at UTA

ARLINGTON, Texas – North Texas track and field swept the field events Friday during day one of the UTA Invitational at Maverick Stadium as the Mean Green throwers took home four titles.
Haley Walker, Chris Samaniego, Skyler Guillot and Matthew Kelly each won their respective events. Walker's hammer toss of 53.97 meters was the top mark, while Samaniego set a personal hammer record at 53.13 in his first-place finish.
Gulliot and Kelly each made their UNT debuts in javelin with Gulliot earning the title with a mark of 41.98 meters, and Kelly throwing 50.75 on his way to first.
Wardell Glaspie secured third place in hammer with a mark of 47.64 meters and fourth in javelin at 38.69. Jake Parchman finished fifth in his hammer debut at 41.47, and Sydney Rogers was third in javelin with a distance of 38.64 meters.
In the women's 5k, UNT placed third through sixth with Amaris Chavez (3rd, 18:36.52), Gwyneth Garcia (4th, 18:37.60), Katie Booth (5th, 18:54.22) and Madelyn Taylor (6th, 19:09.21) representing the Mean Green.
In the men's race, Braden Lange was the top UNT placer in second in 14:41.93. Caleb Bouchard (3rd, 14:47.20), Logan Mitchell (5th, 14:53.87), and Victor Neiva (6th, 14:58.56) also placed.
The UTA Invite concludes tomorrow with field events beginning at 10 a.m. followed by running at 11:25 a.m.
