DENTON - The North Texas women's golf program has been on a steep climb over the past five years since the arrival of head coach Michael Akers - and the greatest player in program history.
Lauren Cox, who was recruited by the previous coaching staff, began her collegiate career at the same time Akers was taking over a team ranked outside the top 200 nationally. Now ranked No. 38, the team is riding the momentum of the first conference championship in program history into the NCAA Regional, and the duo recently played a friendly round together and discussed their journey after an unorthodox start five years ago.
With Cox's career coming to a close and a record book still being rewritten, she discusses her dream conclusion to her time at North Texas, while her coach talks about what makes her the G.O.A.T.Â
