DENTON – North Texas football will play a home-and-home series with the University of Colorado in the years 2032 and 2033, the two schools announced today. The Mean Green will play in Boulder on Sept. 4 2032 and will host the Buffaloes on Sept. 3 2033 at Apogee Stadium.
This will mark the first time that the two teams have matched up since North Texas went to Colorado in 2004. Colorado will be the second Pac 12 team to play at Apogee Stadium with Cal scheduled to play in Denton on Sept. 2 2023. The 2004 game is the only previous meeting between the two teams.
The 2004 game was also the coming out party for former North Texas running back Jamario Thomas. Thomas earned his first career start against the Buffaloes and rushed for 247 yards and two touchdowns. Thomas would go on to lead the nation in rushing that year and set a single-season UNT record that still stands with 1,801 yards rushing.
