DENTON – The 2021 North Texas cross country season is set to start competition Sept. 4 as hosts of the annual Ken Garland Invitational and the Mean Green will compete in a trio of meets before beginning postseason races in late October.
UNT heads down the road for the UT Arlington Invitational Sept. 11 before traveling to the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Oct. 2 and concluding the regular season at the Arturo Barrios Invitational Oct. 16 in College Station.
The Conference USA Championships take place Oct. 30 hosted by Charlotte. The NCAA Cross Country Regionals are held Nov. 11-12 in Waco, and the NCAA Cross Country Championships are slated for Nov. 20 in Tallahassee, Fla.
"I'm looking forward to this year's cross country schedule," director of track and field Carl Sheffield said. "The schedule is very similar to the past two seasons, so we should have a level of confidence going into this year.
"We return a lot of upperclassmen and women. Our men's team has established a close bond for training and racing, and the women's team has come a long way."
