Mean Green have 14 top-five marks in Conference USA
DENTON, Texas – North Texas track & field is right back at it as the Mean Green travel to Norman, Okla., for the J.D. Martin Invitational on Saturday at the University of Oklahoma.
"It will be a chance to get a few more people in other competitions and different races," director of track & field Carl Sheffield said. "We want to make sure that we get a picture of what our conference team needs to look like. We're going to move some people in different races to give them opportunities to get marks. We can compare who and what we need to take to the conference meet."
UNT will face off with host Oklahoma as well as Arkansas Pine Bluff, Central Oklahoma (women), Langston, Midwestern State (women), Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma State, and UTA.
The Mean Green have 14 top-five marks in Conference USA after the opening meet of the indoor season, including four No. 1 rankings in the conference. Karlington Anunagba and Samir Williams are tied for the top spot in the men's 60 meters, Alec Esposito is at the top of the men's 3,000 meters list, and Chris Samaniego stands atop the men's weight throw rankings.
On the women's side, Macayla Needham ranks second in the conference in the shot put, while Liah Collins is No. 5 in the 800 meters.
The 2022 USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Rankings will debut this Monday (Jan. 22).
Live results from Oklahoma will be provided by Delta Timing. Running events start at noon, while the first field event will begin at 10 a.m. CT.
