DENTON — The North Texas women's soccer team will play its final regular season match of the 2022 season Saturday night when they host Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. CT.
With it being UNT's final home match of the year, the Mean Green will honor their seven seniors along with fifth-year senior Olivia Klein before first kick.
Saturday's match will be streamed on ESPN+.
North Texas heads into the last regular season match in third place of the league standings but after Saturday could find themselves in second place if they can beat the Lady Techsters and UAB either draws or loses to Rice.
Louisiana Tech (7-7-3, 5-2-2) will not be a breeze, though, for the eight-time Conference USA champion Mean Green (10-5-2, 6-2-1). The Lady Techsters are right behind UNT in fourth place of the league standings and just two points behind North Texas. A win for LA Tech on Saturday would move them into third and drop UNT to fourth.
The top eight teams in Conference USA make the 2022 conference tournament, which is hosted this year by Charlotte and begins Nov. 2. The eight-team tournament is single-elimination and has no first-round byes. The champion earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Saturday night will be the 10th all-time meeting between the two schools. North Texas leads the series history, 7-1-1. The only time they lost to LA Tech was in 2015 in Ruston, Louisiana, 1-0.
