
Faulkner Named First-Team Academic All-American

DENTON - After ending his two-year stint with the UNT football program over the weekend in the Frisco Bowl, senior defensive back Sean-Thomas Faulkner was named a First Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Faulkner is only the 14th Academic All-American in UNT athletics history and the fifth honoree from football, with the last being current running backs coach Patrick Cobbs, who was a second-team selection in 2005. Faulkner is the first first-team selection from football since 1976, when Pete Morris was garnered First Team honors for the second consecutive year.
Faulkner, who is an MBA student with a 4.0 GPA, spent four years at The Citadel, where he was a team captain, before transferring to UNT before the 2021 season. In his final season with the Mean Green, the Easley, S.C., native was third on the team in tackles (87) with three pass breakups and a fumble recovery while helping lead the team to the Conference USA Championship Game and an appearance in the Frisco Bowl.
