Ricaud Leads UNT At ICON Invitational

HUMBLE, Texas - The North Texas women's golf team closed out play on Tuesday in the ICON Invitational at the Golf Club of Houston and finished the event in 13th place after shooting a 292-301-295-888Â against a loaded field featuring 10 teams ranked in the top 50.
UNT was led by junior Emilie Ricaud, who put together a good final round of 2-under 70 to finish the event at 1-under par in 22nd place. Senior Audrey Tan had her best round of the tournament to close with an even-par 72 but finished tied for 48th at 7-over par along with sophomore Ellie Roth, who shot an opening-round 67 early Monday.
The Mean Green will return to play when they head to Jacksonville, Florida, for the UNT Intercollegiate, hosted by North Florida, on March 7-8.
"We are obviously not pleased with our finish in Houston, but we certainly learned from it and will do better when we play in Jacksonville," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "I am excited to see Emilie play consistent through three rounds and lead the team. Once again, our depth is going to really help us down the stretch. We did not get hurt too bad in the national rankings and are still inside the bubble. At the end of the day, we are trying to get inside the bubble for an at-large bid to the NCAAs before we travel to the conference championship so we can play carefree and win another ring."
