2/6/2022 6:23:00 PM | Women's Basketball
DENTON, Texas – North Texas women's basketball picked up its first conference road win and is looking for one more when they square off with UAB on Monday. The game is slated for 2 p.m. (CT) inside Bartow Arena and will air on ESPN+. Zac Babb will cover the air waves on KNTU 88.1 FM.
The Mean Green will look to build off of its last performance offensively and defensively. Five players scored in double figures last time out and all starters had scored by the end of the first quarter. Aly Gamez' return to the lineup has been huge for North Texas as she set a new UNT career-high in points (22) and 3-point field goals made (4). Quincy Noble has shown consistency notching double figures in 16 out of 19 games this season.
UAB comes into this game winning two of its last three, most recently falling to Middle Tennessee by 20 on the road. Zakyia Weathersby will be a handful for the Mean Green to stop as she averages a double-double nightly. This game was originally scheduled for earlier this season, Jan. 6 but it was postponed due to Covid-19 issues within the Blazers' program.
The Mean Green will continue its five-game stretch when they host Rice in Denton on Thursday (Feb. 10) and then travel to Houston for another with Rice on Feb. 13.
