
Mean Green Break Par in the Desert

TUCSON, Ariz. - The UNT women's golf team broke par in Saturday's second round of the MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Golf Club, shooting a 3-under-par 285 to move to 2-under par for the tournament in a tie for eighth place with No. 50 Oklahoma.
The Mean Green were led on Saturday by senior Patricia Sinolungan, who bounced back from a rough opening round on Friday to fire a 2-under 70, and got a subpar performance from junior Emilie Ricaud, as well, with a 1-under 71. That duo is tied for 47th at 3-over par for the tournament, while senior Audrey Tan still leads the way at 3-under for the event - tied for 15th -Â after her even-par 72 on Saturday. Sophomore Ellie Roth is 2-under after her 72 on Saturday and is tied for 24th.
UNT is five shots clear of No. 29 TCU and 13 shots ahead of No. 35 Iowa State. The Mean Green are one back of No. 46 UNLV and three shots behind No. 6 Florida.
"Our goal was to break par, and we achieved that today," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "We are talking about continuing to think about birdies and expanding our comfort zone. It was great to see Patty bounce back and lead us today. We look forward to going low tomorrow and seeing how we end on the leaderboard."
The Mean Green will be paired for Sunday's final round with No. 46 UNLV and No. 50 Oklahoma at 10 a.m., and fans can follow the action live on BirdieFire.
