Track & Field Set For Michael Johnson Invitational

Action from Waco kicks off Friday at noon CT.
DENTON, Texas – North Texas Track & Field will travel to Waco for the Michael Johnson Invitational Friday and Saturday at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.

"This is an opportunity for the guys that didn't get a chance to travel last week," director of track & field Carl Sheffield said. "There are some teams at Baylor that will give us a really good hope for competition. I think individually for the people that are going to Baylor, it gives them a chance to work on some things that we need to get to in the next few meets before the conference meet."

The men's team comes into the meet ranked fourth in Conference USA in the USTFCCCA Conference TFRI: Track & Field Rating Index, while the women's team is ranked 10th. The men's team currently has 20 marks in the top-5 of Conference USA, while the women's team has six.

A select group of 12 men and 16 women will compete at Baylor, as the Mean Green will take on Abilene Christian, Baylor, Boston University, Colombia, Harvard, Kansas, Maryland, Nebraska, New Mexico, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech, UT-Arlington and UT-Dallas.

Live results will be provided by DeltaTiming. Action from Waco kicks off Friday with the women's hammer throw at noon CT, and will begin again Saturday with the women's javelin at 11:30 a.m. CT.

This is the second-to-last meet before the Conference USA Outdoor Championships May 12-15 in San Antonio. Next weekend, UNT will compete at the Corky/Crofoot Shootout at Texas Tech.
