Track & Field: Anunagba Advances to 100m Quarterfinals

Junior from Lagos, Nigeria, records fifth-best time of first round.
DENTON, Texas – Karlington Anunagba advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's 100 meters with a time of 10.23 Wednesday in the first round to highlight North Texas Track & Field's day at the 2022 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.

Anunagba recorded the fifth-best time of the first round in the 100 meters, while teammates Samir Williams (10.53) and Davonye Jones (10.85) finished 34th and 45th, respectively.

Later in the evening, Anunagba finished 37th in the first round of the 200 meters with a time of 21.18, followed by Jones in 45th with a time of 21.73.

Vitus Hansgaard started the day for the Mean Green in the first round of the men's javelin, where he finished in 39th place with a throw of 192-5 (58.64m).

Makayla Roy takes the stage for UNT on Thursday, competing in the women's javelin at 2 p.m. CT. Anunagba, Jones, Williams and Tyler Walls will compete in the quarterfinals of the men's 4x100-meter relay on Friday, followed by Anunagba in the 100m quarterfinals Friday at 6:35 p.m. CT.
