
Soccer Heads To WKU

BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky — Coming off a shutout victory on Thursday, the North Texas soccer team looks to keep the hot play going as they travel to Western Kentucky Sunday afternoon.
The Mean Green (6-4-1, 2-1-0) and Lady Toppers (4-4-2, 1-1-0) are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. CT in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The match will be streamed on Facebook.
North Texas leads the all-time series history versus WKU, 15-7-3. UNT has not lost to WKU since 2012 when the two schools played in the Sun Belt Conference. Since that loss, the Mean Green are 5-0-1 versus the Lady Toppers. Sunday will mark the first time the two schools have met in Bowling Green, Kentucky, since 2018.
North Texas is coming off a 3-0 win at Middle Tennessee on Thursday. The Mean Green outshot the Blue Raiders 24-7 and flexed their top 15 offense. Fifth-year senior Olivia Klein scored a goal on Thursday and had two assists in the shutout victory. Junior Devyn Flannery also scored and had one assist. The third goal came from junior Taylor Tufts.
With two league victories, the Mean Green enter Sunday atop the Conference USA standings in a tie with UAB and Rice. UNT features the league's top offense, averaging 2.72 goals per match and the fourth best defense. The Lady Toppers own the league's top defense, allowing .7 goals per match.
