DALLAS — North Texas soccer fifth-year senior Olivia Klein was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Klein led UNT to two road conference wins last week.
She was involved in all three of her Mean Green's goals last Thursday at Middle Tennessee in their shutout victory. She scored and had two assists in the win at MTSU. On Sunday at Western Kentucky, Klein led all UNT forwards in minutes played (70 minutes) as they beat the Lady Toppers, 1-0.
This is Klein's first career conference weekly honor.
She is the third different UNT forward to earn the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honor this season. Freshman Kat Burnell (Aug. 23) and senior Madi Drenowatz (Sept. 6) have also earned the weekly award. UNT freshman goalkeeper Dani Jacobson was named the league's goalkeeper of the week on Aug. 23.
With 21 career goals, Klein ranks 18th all-time in program history and has most career goals among active Mean Green players.
Klein has scored a single season career-high eight goals so far this year. As of Tuesday, she leads the league in goals scored and total points (20).
After sweeping its road trip last week, North Texas is back home on Sunday versus UAB at 1 p.m. CT. Sunday's match will be streamed on ESPN+.
