
Women’s Basketball Returns Home to Take on FAU Saturday Afternoon

UNT looking to avoid three straight C-USA losses
DENTON, Texas (Jan. 13, 2023) - North Texas women's basketball returns to the court this Saturday when they take on Florida Atlantic for the second time this season, this time inside the Super Pit at 2:00 p.m.
It will be the 20th all-time meeting between the two programs in a series that dates back to 2007. FAU knocked off UNT 66-61 in Boca Raton earlier this season and has won two of the last three meetings between the two schools.
The Mean Green will be looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses against MTSU and LA Tech and earn their second C-USA win of the season.
FAU heads into the matchup at 10-4 overall with a 3-2 record in C-USA play. The Owls started conference play 2-0 with wins over FIU and UNT before dropping road contests at UAB and Charlotte.

- Senior Quincy Noble leads UNT offensively with 17.6 points per game this season, a figure that is second Conference USA and 56th in Division I. Noble has scored in double figures 13 times this season for North Texas and scored her 1,000th career point on the road at FIU.
- Junior Tommisha Lampkin has been one of the top post players in C-USA, sitting second in the league with 7.7 rebounds per game and second with 1.7 blocks per contest.
- Freshman Ereauna Hardaway ranks third in C-USA with a 1.75 assist-to-turnover ratio on the and leads the Mean Green with 3.7 assists per game.
- UNT has two of the top-10 players in C-USA in blocked shots this season in Lampkin and Aniyah Johnson. Lampkin sits second in the league with 1.7 blocks per game while Johnson is eighth at 1.0 blocks per contest.
- UNT has been one of the top teams in C-USA in distributing the basketball ranking third in the league with 14.6 assist per game in conference-only games this season.
- In C-USA matchups, sophomore Kendall McGruder is tied for fourth in the conference with 4.4 assists per game, including a nine-assist performance against MTSU, the most for a UNT player since 2018.
- FAU holds a narrow 11-8 edge in the all-time series that dates back to 2007 when the programs faced each other as members of the Sun Belt Conference.
- The Mean Green have won five of the last seven meetings between the two squads including a 76-47 victory over the Owls in Denton a season ago.
- Jalie Mitchell is 5-3 all-time against FAU as a head coach and is a perfect 3-0 vs. the Owls inside the Super Pit.
- In their second year under head coach Jennifer Sullivan, FAU has made a strong turnaround from a season ago.
- Last year, the Owls finished 5-25 overall and 1-17 in conference play. FAU has already surpassed last season's win total with 10 victories in their first 14 games.
- The Owls are led by Aniyah Hubbard who is averaging 13.8 points per game. Hubbard scored 23 points last time out against UNT and is averaging 19.0 PPG over her last five contests.
- The Owls are one of the top teams in C-USA in defending the 3-point line this season. FAU leads the conference and sits 23rd in the country allowing opponents to shoot just 26.0 percent from downtown.
