
Volleyball Returns Home Against Rice

DENTON, Texas – North Texas volleyball welcomes Rice on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. for a pair of American Athletic Conference contests. Both matches will be broadcast from the North Texas Volleyball Center on ESPN+.
UNT (15-12, 9-5) defeated Wichita State 3-2 on Saturday in the program's first reverse sweep victory since Sept. 17, 2021. The Mean Green provided the Shockers with its first home loss against a conference opponent this season.
In two contests versus Wichita State, Treyaunna Rush led North Texas with 30 kills and 68 attacks while Jayde Harris impressed with 24 kills and a team-best .404 attack percentage over nine sets.
The Mean Green currently hold a program record streak of eight consecutive matches with double-digit team blocks. No other team in The American has a streak longer than five matches this season. During the spell, North Texas owns a 3-1 home record and has suppressed opposing teams to a .182 hitting percentage.
Rice (17-7, 11-3) rides a four-match winning streak after it won a pair of four-set matches at home over Tulane. The Mean Green trail the all-time series 6-19 against the Owls.
The programs met in Denton last season as then-No. 22 Rice escaped with a 3-2 (24-26, 25-21, 17-25, 25-22, 7-15) win. Aryn Johnson led with 18 kills on 51 attacks while Sh'Diamond Holly posted eight blocks.
