Women’s Basketball Takes on Charlotte on the Road Saturday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 10, 2023) – After snapping a three-game win streak Thursday against UAB, UNT looks to bounce back Saturday as they take on Charlotte for the first time this season in a battle for positioning in the C-USA standings.

It will be the 15th all-time meeting between the two programs in a series that dates back to the 2013-14 season when the 49ers joined C-USA. Charlotte has won each of the last four matchups, including a 66-63 win over the Mean Green in the C-USA Tournament in 2022. Charlotte is the lone C-USA team UNT has not faced yet this season.

Charlotte comes into the matchup having won three of their last five matchups but are coming off a 70-64 loss Wednesday night against UTEP. The 49ers are 7-4 at home this season and own a perfect 6-0 record against UNT inside Halton Arena all-time.

Quick Hitters

Senior Quincy Noble leads UNT offensively with 16.9 points per game this season, a figure that is third Conference USA.
Noble has scored in double figures 20 times this season for North Texas and ranks ninth in program history with 1,177 points in her career at UNT.
Both sophomores Kendall McGruder and Aniyah Johnson are averaging double figures in conference-only games with McGruder scoring 12.8 points per game and Johnson averaging 10.3 ppg.
Ereauna Hardaway ranks third in C-USA with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio on the year. The freshman leads the Mean Green with 3.5 APG.
In C-USA matchups, UNT has two of the top 10 assist leaders in the league as Hardaway ranks seventh and McGruder sits in 10th in the conference in assists per game.
UNT has two of the top shot blockers in C-USA this season in Tommisha Lampkin and Johnson. Lampkin sits fifth in the league with 1.2 blocks per game while Johnson is eighth at 1.1 BPG.
In total, the Mean Green rank third in the conference with 3.8 blocks per game as a team.
Johnson has scored in double figures six times in her collegiate career. All six have come since the calendar turned in January.
UNT has been successful thus far this season in games against teams who have defeated them earlier in the season. In three opportunities this season, UNT holds a perfect 3-1 record in these games with wins over FIU, FAU and Rice.
Through 23 games this season, the Mean Green are 5-11 this season when losing the team rebounding battle and are 4-2 when outrebounding their opponents.

Charlotte leads the all-time series 11-3 since they joined Conference USA in the 2013-14 season.
