
Women’s Basketball Looks to Extend Win Streak Thursday at UAB

Mean Green trying to stay perfect in “revenge” games in 2022-23
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Feb. 8, 2023) – Coming off three consecutive three-point victories, UNT returns to the court looking to push the win streak to four games when they travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to take on UAB.
It will be the 18th all-time meeting between the two programs in a series that dates back to the 2000-01 season. The Blazers defeated the Mean Green 76-74 in Denton in the first matchup earlier this season.
UAB comes into the matchup looking to snap a four-game losing streak as they are 10-12 overall and 2-11 in C-USA play.
Each of the last four games for the Blazers have been close as they have all been decided by 10 points or less with an average deficit of only 5.8 points per game.

- In C-USA matchups, UNT has two of the top 10 assist leaders in the league as Hardaway ranks sixth and sophomore Kendall McGruder sits in ninth in the conference in assists per game.
- UNT has two of the best top blockers in C-USA this season in Tommisha Lampkin and Aniyah Johnson. Lampkin sits fifth in the league with 1.3 blocks per game while Johnson is eighth at 1.1 BPG.
- In total, the Mean Green rank third in the conference with 3.8 blocks per game as a team.
- After starting the 2023 calendar year with a 27-point, 10-rebound game against WKU, Aniyah Johnson has been a force for the Mean Green. Since the start of 2023, Johnson is averaging 11.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
- Johnson has scored in double figures six times in her collegiate career. All six have come since the calendar turned in January.
- UNT has been very successful thus far this season in games against teams who have defeated them earlier in the season. In three opportunities this season, UNT holds a perfect 3-0 record in these games with wins over FIU, FAU and Rice.
