Mean Green face off with a ranked opponent for the first time this season
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (March 1, 2023) – Coming off a thrilling comeback win over Charlotte on Senior Night last time out, UNT travels on the road for the final two C-USA matchups of the regular season, starting with a contest against No. 24 Middle Tennessee Thursday night.
It will be the 30th all-time meeting between the two programs with MTSU holding a 25-4 lead in the series. The Mean Green have not defeated the Lady Raiders since the 2005-06 season as MTSU is currently on a 20-game win streak against the Mean Green, including a 76-57 win over UNT earlier this season in Denton.
Middle Tennessee heads into the matchup having already clinched the regular season C-USA crown with a 23-4 overall record and sitting at 16-2 in conference play. The Lady Raiders are ranked No. 24 in the latest AP Poll.
It will be the second of two final regular season games on the road for the week as UNT battles for positioning in the C-USA standings. The Mean Green can finish anywhere from sixth to ninth in the standings.

- Senior Quincy Noble leads UNT offensively with 17.4 points per game this season, a figure that is third Conference USA. Noble has scored in double figures 24 times this season for North Texas and ranks eighth in program history with 1,275 points in her career at UNT.
- Junior Tommisha Lampkin has been on fire of late for UNT, scoring in double figures in three straight games. The string started with a career performance with 29 points and 18 rebounds in the win over UTEP.
- Noble has scored 20+ points 11 times this season, seven of which have come in C-USA contests and in each of the last three games.
- With 1,275 career points at UNT, Noble is now alone in eighth place all-time in scoring in program history. She needs 85 points to pass Brittney James (1,359 points) for seventh place.
- UNT has started a freshman at PG in 26 of their 28 games this sesason with Breanna Davis making eight starts and Ereauna Hardaway starting 18.
- Davis comes to UNT with a family pedigree. Davis' father, Chris, was selected to the UNT Hall of Fame in 2008. She is coming off a career-high 11 points in last Thursday's win over Charlotte.
- Hardaway, meanwhile, ranks seventh in C-USA with a 1.4 assist-to-turnover ratio on the year. The freshman leads the Mean Green with 3.1 APG.
- UNT has two of the top shot blockers in C-USA this season in Lampkin and Aniyah Johnson. Lampkin sits seventh in the league with 1.2 blocks per game while Johnson is eighth at 1.0 BPG.
- In total, the Mean Green rank third in the conference with 3.3 blocks per game as a team.
- Johnson has scored in double figures seven times in her collegiate career. All seven have come since the calendar turned in January.
- In seven opportunities this season, UNT holds a 5-3 record against opponents in the second matchup with wins over FIU, FAU, Rice, UTEP and Charlotte.
- Through 27 games this season, the rebound battle has been an indicator of success for UNT. The Mean Green are 5-14 this season when losing the team rebounding battle and are 5-2 when outrebounding their opponents.

- The leading scorer for the Lady Raiders this season has been junior transfer Savannah Wheeler who is averaging 16.0 points per game this season. Wheeler, who missed the first matchup against the Mean Green earlier this season, has scored in double figures in 11 of her last 13 games and ranks No. 23 in DI shooting 87.5 percent from the free throw line this season.
- In total, the Lady Raiders have four players averaging double-digit points this season in Wheeler, Kseniya Malashka (15.5 ppg), Jalynn Gregory (13.1 ppg) and Courtney Whitson (10.7 ppg).
- The Lady Raiders lead the league in a number of different statistical categories, including turnovers per game where they rank fourth in Division I and free throw percentage where they sit eighth in the country.
