TUCSON, Ariz. - The 44th-ranked UNT women's golf team opened up play on Friday at the MountainView Collegiate and shot an even-par 288 to head into Saturday's second round in ninth place, one shot ahead of No. 49 Nebraska and No. 50 North Carolina, in a field that includes 11 top-50 teams.
The Mean Green were led by junior Ellie Roth and senior Emilie Ricaud, who each shot 1-under 71s, and tied for 18th on the individual leaderboard, while graduate students Patricia Sinolungan and Audrey Tan each shot 1-over 73s.
UNT is one shot back of No. 41 New Mexico and No. 34 Arkansas, two back of UNLV and three back of No. 42 Tulsa, who enters Round 2 in fifth place.
The Mean Green will be paired with New Mexico and Arkansas for Saturday's second round and will tee off in nine-minute intervals beginning at 9 a.m.
