3/18/2023 7:10:00 PM | Women's Golf
TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior Ellie Roth fired a career-best 6-under 66 in the second round of the MountainView Collegiate on Saturday to lead the way for the UNT women's golf, which moved up a spot on the leaderboard to head into Sunday's final round in eighth place after a 5-under 283 has the Mean Green at 5-under for the tournament.
The 44th-ranked Mean Green are two shots ahead of UNLV. They're one shot back of No. 49 Nebraska and two back of No. 36 Houston, in a field that includes 11 top-50 teams.
Roth carded a bogey-free round with three birdies on the front-nine with three more on the back-nine to finish with the seventh 66 in program history - the sixth round ever of 6-under par - just one shy of Katie Finley's program record of 7-under 65 in 2020-21. She is now 7-under for the tournament and tied for fourth going into Sunday's final round - eight shots off the lead but just three back of second place.
Graduate students Patricia Sinolungan and Audrey Tan followed up their identical 1-over 73s on Friday with even-par 72s on Saturday.
The Mean Green will be paired with UNLV and Nebraska for Sunday's final round and will tee off in a shotgun start at 9:45 a.m.
