Track & Field: Grubbs Sets School Record at Texas Relays

James, Hottel earn runner-up finishes at Bobcat Invitational
DENTON, Texas – Kevin Grubbs broke the school record in the men's discus to highlight the weekend for UNT track & field at the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational in Austin and San Marcos, respectively.
In just his second meet for the Mean Green, Grubbs launched the discus 189-05 (57.73m) to shatter the record of 182-03 set by Brock Stickler on April 30, 2009. Grubbs finished in third place at the Relays with his performance.
At the Bobcat Invitational, Brock Hottel finished tied for second in the men's pole vault with a jump of 16-4.75 (5.00m).
In the women's shot put "A" section, Jalesia Shaffer placed third with a throw of 50-8.25 (15.45m), and Dionna James placed second in the "B" section with a mark of 44-7 (13.59m).
The Mean Green will compete for the first time at home in 2023 next Saturday (April 8) at the North Texas Classic at the Soccer and Track & Field Stadium, where UNT's senior class will be recognized.
