Track & Field Sets Three School Records in Lubbock

KeAyla Dove took home another win in the women's shot put.
DENTON, Texas – Three school records were set as UNT track & field finished up regular season action Friday and Saturday at the Corky/Crofoot Shootout in Lubbock, Texas.

Wardell Glaspie broke the school record in the discus as he took second place with a mark of 192-10 (58.79m). Kevin Grubbs also surpassed the previous record and is No. 2 all-time at UNT in the discus with a throw of 189-8 (57.82), good for third place at the Terry Linda and Fuller Track Complex.

Breaking his own school record in the hammer throw, Jake Parchman cleared 200 feet for the first time to place second with a mark of 204-4 (62.29m).

Madison Sloan cleared her own school record in the hammer throw, as well, to take second with a mark of 192-10 (58.79).

KeAyla Dove took home another win in the women's shot put, recording a throw of 58-4.50 (17.79m).

Zion Hill finished as the runner-up in the men's javelin with a throw of 211-4 (64.42), while Mackenzie Kuehl placed third in the women's javelin with a mark of 138-8 (42.27m).

The Mean Green women's 4x100-meter relay team of Tamyah Derrough, Lauren Brown, Kendahl Tucker, and Janai Williams took second with a season-best time of 45.24, Jordan Coates-McBride finished third in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.68, and Victor Neiva placed third in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 15:08.37.

UNT will now host the 2023 Conference USA Outdoor Championships May 11-14 at the Soccer and Track & Field Stadium in Denton. Both the Mean Green men's and women's teams are ranked No. 4 in the conference by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
