Dove will compete at the regional track meet Thursday at 8 p.m. CT
DENTON, Texas – After her record-setting performance at the Conference USA Championship at the Soccer and Track & Field Stadium in Denton, KeAyla Dove has been named Female Field Performer of the Meet, the league office announced Tuesday.
Â
Dove is the first UNT student-athlete (women or men) to earn performer of the meet honors since the Mean Green joined Conference USA in 2013. The junior from Houston, Texas, saved her best for last as she launched a shot put of 62-02.25 (18.95m) to fly over a meter past both her school record and Memphis' Susan King's Conference USA mark of 17.84 that had stood since 2008. Dove won her first-ever C-USA title with her historic performance.
The Conference USA individual awards were voted on by the league's head coaches and solely based on the student-athlete's performances at the 2023 outdoor championship.
Â
Dove is one of 11 UNT student-athletes that will compete Wednesday through Saturday (May 24-27) at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in Sacramento, Calif. She enters the West prelims ranked No. 3 in the region and No. 8 in the World with her school-record mark. The women's shot put will take place Thursday at 8 p.m. CT.
