
Volleyball Claims Five-Set Victory in Season Opener

BOULDER, Colo. – Aryn Johnson tallied a team-high 15 kills as UNT volleyball opened its season with a 3-2 win over Campbell at the CU Events Center on Friday.
The Mean Green (1-0) have won at least one match on opening day in ten consecutive seasons, dating back to 2014, with the five-set victory (25-16, 19-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-8) over the Fighting Camels (0-1).
In total, four North Texas players finished with double-digit kills as Treyaunna Rush (14), Coco Gillett (11) and Truli Levy (10) joined Johnson. Last season, the Mean Green had four players reach double-digit kills in a single match once on August 27, 2022.
Gillett added 11 digs for a double-double of kills and digs in her UNT debut. She was joined in the double-double club by Ceci Harness who finished with a match-best 33 assists and 12 digs.
Aleeyah Galdeira continued her chase for history as she added 18 digs to her career total of 1,360. She is currently in fourth place in program history for career digs and needs 67 to pass recent UNT Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Carnae Dillard.
Senior Sh'Diamond Holly contributed 10 digs, nine kills, three assists and two blocks.
