DENTON — After splitting a two-match road trip, the North Texas soccer team returns home Friday night for a pair of home matches that will be the final non-conference matches of the season.
UNT (5-1-0) hosts Incarnate Word (3-1-1) Friday at 7 p.m. CT and UTRGV (1-3-1) Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
UNT enters the match on the back of a 5-0 thrashing on the road of Oral Roberts on Sunday.
North Texas is 5-0-0 all-time versus Incarnate Word and has never conceded a goal versus the Cardinals in its previous five meetings.
The last time UNT and the Cardinals met was in the 2019 season. North Texas defeated Incarnate Word 3-0.
The Cardinals head into Friday's match with a 3-1-1 overall record. Last match, they were handed their first loss of the year by UTEP. It was the first time UIW conceded a goal all year.
A win Friday against Incarnate Word would be UNT's third home victory of the year, keeping their record perfect at the Mean Green Soccer Stadium. It also would improve its record to 6-1 overall, which would be its best seven-match start to a season since 2015 when they won a program record 19 matches.
UNT has been led statistically by Summer Brown (11 points) and Jenna Sheely (9 points) who are tied for first and in fourth place respectively for most points in the American Athletic Conference.
Following Friday's match, North Texas will host UTRGV at 1 p.m. CT versus UTRGV in their final non-conference game of the season. The Mean Green have never faced UTRGV before.
